C’mon, move that bootie!

The warmth in summer means that rising hemlines will make it easier to make a statement with your shoes. So why not turn up the drama with some sexy short boots and enjoy some male attention to your legs?

In the top row, Christian Louboutin (Top left), Alexander McQueen (Top Centre) and Giuseppe Zanotti (Top right) pushed for tough, utilitarian styles with bold zips, military-style lacing and marine-esque buttons. The sexy peeptoe holes keeps the feet cool, and the sky-high heels really stretch out your legs. These are definately attention-grabbing pieces no matter what you wear— as long as it’s not with long trousers.

You can also go for hardcore and quirky looks. Up-and-coming New York designer Alexander Wang (Middle left) gives us a neutral grey pallette and abstract shapes that makes these suede slips-ons very versatile. The open-toes also suggests a “300-esque” sort of roughness- while staying modern and elegant. Mulberry (bottom left) does British rock with the staple rivets on suede- a must-have for any punk girl and all the wannabes.

In times when you want your outfit to scream the words, “I am one hell of a sexy diva!”, then the Dior (bottom centre) and Versace (middle centre) booties will serve the purpose. Lace and Red patent leather- one word: HOT!!

From more obscure designers in Brazil, we have the crocodile skin peeptoes from Alexandre Birman (bottom right). It’s another pair that needs to be shown off with a hot dress or tiny little shorts. The electric blue from Ernesto Esposito (middle right) gives any outfit a colourful pop. Wear with mono-toned colours (or just go hogwild with greens and yellows).

Five Things you must do before working leg-baring booties this summer:

1. The obvious: get a nice, thorough wax on all areas of hair growth. Deal with most skin problems on your legs and cover up flaws with make-up if necessary.

2. If you wanna wear peeptoes/open-toe styles, make sure your toenails are decent in size and fungus-free. Avoid toenail polish as they distract from the shoes.

3. Avoid wearing tights and stockings of any kind. It’s too hot in summer to be wearing any pants at all, plus it’s unsexy and again, takes the attention away from the shoes. It’s okay to do it in winter, but defs not the summer.

4. Be sure that you’re confident with the pair of legs you’ve got. If not, hit the thigh-master.

5. Match the colour of your shoes to at least ONE main item of your outfit. A little bit of harmony and consistency makes a look appear polished and well-accessorised.
